This year was my first Inktober, and decided to mostly focus on
vehicles. This was my most popular drawing, so I did a rough painting of
the ship. Included are a couple of different variations, regular, model
sheet, and comic book.
Art Pen And Prismacolor Marker on Copy Paper
Rough Painting punched up a bit to give it more of a comic book feel
This scene was on the back cover of David Drake's paperback collection of military science fiction short stories called "The Fleet Book One." There's a big John Berkey influence on this painting. He was the king of these giant space ship paintings.
I enjoyed imagining the air battle taking place at a low altitude over farmland. I set up the scale by introducing the fighter craft in the foreground, and then repeating them way back in the scene.
Haven't posted anything for ages, so here is a cover I did for Elite Dangerous Rpg, what came out recently. Its a pretty neat tabletop with loads of cool art from other artists, so make sure you pick it up, if you are into hardcore space stuff...
